| Kamakshi Arora (she/her) My philosophy I am a designer and systems thinker with over five years of experience. I'm driven by a core belief: the things we design should be built on care and empathy, with foresight embedded in strategy. I think about ecosystems as fluid, not static. I'm interested in how relationships at the margins shape the whole, and how to design for systems that are always changing Things I've done I have led and worked within teams that are focused, mission-driven, and collaborative in decision-making. For example, I introduced service design thinking as our team's core working philosophy at ARC, a child welfare agency, leading multiple service delivery improvement initiatives. I also built ARC's first data infrastructure through a process driven by user research and design thinking. As a fellow at First Principles Lab, a behavioral design consultancy, I addressed deaths on railway tracks through behavioral design research. I have also worked in spaces where storytelling was a key tool for change: at Sahiyo, an organization fighting to end FGM/C, I led a project using comics to illustrate difficult peer conversations about female genital cutting. Things that excite me I am especially drawn to civic tech, child welfare, women's rights, and privacy issues (essentially any domain where the focus is humanistic/mission-driven)—particularly in the age of technology and AI—and the broader question of how we can redesign our lives and tools to work in tandem with the ecology of our planet, not against it. Things that fulfill me I am also an artist and storyteller, using my canvas as a means to explore and communicate my inner world and ruminations. I frequently explore the meaning of symbols and artifacts within my imagery to portray personal mythologies. I work mostly in the medium of oils and pastels, and occasionally even incorporate textiles in my work if I am feeling ambitious. I am currently working on learning how to make my own clothes, and can't wait to repurpose some of my mum's beautiful saris for my wardrobe. Get in touch! |
